Terms & Conditions
Thanks for taking part in our coding challenge! It’s a way for us to engage the developer community in a fun way and give back to three Atlassian Foundation partners.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the coding challenge. They confirm that
- (1) you are not required to disclose any personal information to Atlassian to participate in the challenge;
- (2) you may voluntarily disclose designated personal information to the company if you are interested in working for Atlassian now or in the future; and
- (3) you are not eligible to receive any prizes or awards as a result of their participation in the challenge.
By participating in the challenge, you agree to the Terms in full.
You must be the older of eighteen (18) years of age or the age of majority in your country of residence to participate in the challenge. Atlassian reserves the right to verify your eligibility at any time. You do not need to have a prior or existing relationship to Atlassian or Atlassian’s products to enter.
How to Enter
To enter the challenge, all you have to do is click “Begin” and you can start to grow your plot! Please note, you will be auto-assigned a username.
Participation in the coding challenge does not require participants to provide Atlassian with any personal information. As mentioned above, you will be auto-assigned an anonymous username. The web application acts in an “anonymous” session capacity with no management of users. Continuity across browser sessions are maintained using local storage as long as the user doesn’t delete or clear local storage data. The entire challenge is designed to be initiated and completed anonymously.
You may, however, voluntarily provide Atlassian with your personal information if you are interested in working for the company now or in the future. You can do so by clicking “Say hello” when prompted in the challenge or by navigating to the “About” section. You will be directed to a form hosted on our Applicant Tracking System where you can voluntarily leave information including and up to your full name, LinkedIn profile, resume, email, phone number, current company, social media (Twitter, GitHub, LinkedIn), portfolio URL, other website URL, Unique challenge ID (username), elective additional information, voluntary EEO info, voluntary self-identification of veteran status, and voluntary self-identification of disability.
Not an Offer or Contract of Employment
You acknowledge that your participation in the challenge is voluntary. Your decision to disclose any personal identifying information is also voluntary. Should you choose to disclose such information, you acknowledge that no confidential, fiduciary, agency, or other relationship or implied-in-fact contract now exists between you and Atlassian and that no such relationship is established by your entry into the challenge. You understand and agree that nothing in these Terms may be construed as an offer or contract of employment with Atlassian.
Atlassian Donations for Challenge Success
Atlassian will donate up to $100,000 USD to designated partner organizations during the challenge. While participants are not eligible to receive any prizes or awards as a result of their participation in the challenge, they may choose to which partner organization Atlassian should donate.
At the start of the challenge, each participant will have the option to choose one of three partner organizations to receive donations: Teach for All, Doctors without Borders, and the Global FoodBanking Network. For each successful completion of a level (there are five total levels) by a participant, Atlassian will donate $5 to the Foundation Partner of the participant’s choosing, up to $25 per participant. At the completion of the challenge and/or once the total sum of $100,000 is reached, Atlassian will proportionally divide the funds based on user direction.
These donations are made by Atlassian and on behalf of Atlassian. They are not made by or on behalf of the participants. Participants have no legal claim to redeem these funds from Atlassian, nor any legal claim to exert control over these funds in any way. Participants must be aware that they may not legally attempt to deduct from their taxes any amounts "raised" from this challenge and that to do so may be illegal in the user's tax jurisdiction.
Your Representations, Warranties, and Indemnities:
You represent and warrant that any information you provide to Atlassian is truthful and accurate.
You acknowledge that any code and content associated with the challenge is owned and retained by Atlassian. You are not creating any code or content during the challenge that could be owned or licensed.
If any term or part of a term of the Terms is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will remain in effect.
All claims arising out of or relating to these Terms will be governed by California law and will be litigated exclusively in the Federal or State Courts of San Francisco County, California, USA. You consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
